Employment Social Enterprises

DC Central Kitchen

DC Central Kitchen began as a training program which used food to teach life skills and culinary skills. The social enterprise, which provides meals to 3500 DC Public School kids daily at 10 locations, and the Healthy Corners fresh fruit delivery program to food deserts in the city’s poorest neighborhoods are two of the organization’s flagship programs.

DC Central Kitchen’s Culinary Job Training program serves a multi-barrier population of unemployed men and women who have a desire to go to work and change their lives. The goal of the program is to prepare unemployed, underemployed, previously incarcerated persons, and homeless adults for careers in the food service industry.
