International Rescue Committee – Project CHOP

In 2016, IRC launched Project CHOP, a food-based social enterprise, to provide low-literacy refugee women the opportunity to learn critical job skills and vocational English in a real, on-the-job setting. Project CHOP seeks to serve a gap in San Diego County for new immigrants with little previous education or employment experience but want to gain skills fast to support their family on the road to self-sufficiency. To date, Project CHOP has served 27 participants from six countries including Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Eritrea, Iraq and Syria.
