Workshop Description: This session will cover what is and isn’t worktime and what is required (and isn’t permitted) regarding rest breaks and meal breaks. We will address timekeeping requirements, overtime pay, the regular rate calculation, and rounding.

Session Title: Policy Creation, Implementation, and Enforcement
Workshop Description: In this session, we will address what should be covered in written wage/hour policies and best practices for implementing and enforcing them. We will address training, supervision, and discipline of employees and managers who fail to adhere to what is required.

Workshop Description: In addition to describing the role of the government (e.g., the Labor Commissioner, the Employment Development Department, and the Franchise Tax Board) in enforcing wage/hour laws, in this session, we will describe best practices for internally monitoring compliance. We will cover auditing payroll and time records and remediating instances of non-compliance.
